Summer house of Erik Gunnar Asplun is located in the peninsula of Sandvik, Sweden. The house, which is oriented south and protected to the north by a rock, is placed at 50m from the coastline and offers unique views of the Baltic sea and the natural landscape in order to enjoy the environment and disconnect from the urban life.

The project consists on building a restroom and a boat shed. The aims of the project were to contribute with a solution thinking on the comfort of the inhabitants and achieve a design that could adapt itself to the original house without interfering with the landscape.

For this reasons the restroom is placed in the east facade of the original house next to the exterior stairs which eases the access from the exterior and interior. The roof has been extended to cover the entrance and protect from rainwater and sun.

The boat shed has been placed few meter from this east entrance of the house. This boatshed offers an open space towards south to connect the environment with the house and offering a nice view of the landscape. Its placement does not interfere with the views from the studio and the bedroom. On the other hand this shed has been rotated clockwise to not break with the geometry of the house.

This geometry is focused in an open courtyard towards the landscape and is sheltered from the north. This courtyard creates a pleasant space and concentrates the exterior life allowing a connection between the boat shed and the interior of the house
